ACME Movies: Find, Review, and Buy Tickets to In-Theater Movies

Acme Movies is an entertainment that provides a superb user experience. This project required a keen understanding of the entertainment business, the individuals who are interested in a visiting a site such as this, and the products or services being marketed.

The overall goal of the site was to create a pleasing visual experience that encompassed basic site requirements, such as displaying a featured movie, featured trailers, and upcoming movies, as well as allowing visitors to search for the nearest movie theater.

Solving The Problem

In order to design a good entertainment website, and in this particular case, a website for movies, one must consider who will be using the website and why they will be using it. Part of effectively designing a great user experience in analyzing a multitude of factors. One of theses is how users use a movie review site. The answer is: to look up movies in order to make the decision of which movie to watch.

Users want to visit the website, quickly find what they are looking for, and then analyze the review. If they like what they see, then they are ready to find a local theater and make a ticket purchase. If the design is poor (e.g. confusing), then a user will become frustrated and possibly leave the site; never making a purchase. This translates into a lost conversion, and the fact that that particular user will most likely never return. That's not good.

The ending result is a beautifully simple website that I designed with Return on Investment being a focus. Users of this site would be satisfied, able to quickly find the correct information, and then get on with their lives. A positive user experience is key to making a conversion, and ACME Movies provides just that.
