Full Sail Times: An Educational Blog
The Full Sail Times blog was designed from the ground up as a very flexible website. Equipped with a custom PHP backend, and powered by the FuelPHP framework, this website is truly a complete solution. The focus of this blog was on the content; visitors come to this site to read about events at Full Sail. Therefore, it was important to abstract away any unnecessary elements and focus the user on the articles.
A Custom Solution
While I love Wordpress, it isn't fit for every situation. When speed, optimization, and a flexible feature set are paramount, a custom solution is best. This is why I selected the FuelPHP framework and built a complete blogging platform, both frontend and backend, for this project. This allowed me to use the latest technologies, from jQuery to CSS3, in order to produce a pleasantly usable web solution.
Feature Set
The frontend (publicly accessible) sports a dark and modern theme with a focus on photos; articles cover a wide range of topics and categories house said articles. The backend features a robust set of options; from posting a new blog entry, adding new authors, editing blogs, all the way to uploading and deleting media.
